How to add Insendi to a course in Canvas
Create a new course
1. In Canvas, click on 'Courses' and then 'All courses'. Please note that the content to be linked must be previously created in Insendi. To read about this, please refer to the article.
2. Click on '+ Course', select the account you want the new course to be associated with, and name it however you like. Once done, please hit 'Create'.
Enable the Developer Key in the Canvas course
*Note: This step is not needed if you have configured the app at the account level.
1. Access a course from either the 'Dashboard' or the 'Courses' icons that are in the left column. Once inside the course, go to 'Settings' and then to the ‘Apps' tab.
2. Press the 'View App Configurations' button and '+ App.'
3. In the 'Add App' window that pops up, select 'By Client ID' from the Configuration Type dropdown menu, paste the Client ID you can copy from the LTI Developer key already added and hit 'Submit'.
4. Next, click on 'Install' to add Insendi to your course, e.g., in this case, 'Insendi UAT' is the name chosen for the connection.
How to use Insendi in a course
In the 'Modules' section of a Canvas course, click on the three-dot menu that is next to the top-right 'Module' button and select the content you want to add. In the example below, we chose the 'Insendi UAT Content’, which is the App that we have previously enabled.
A box with a list of the available resources according to your permissions will be presented. Please, choose the ones you want to add, and after having selected one or more resources, click on 'Add X resources'. Remember you need to have paired at least a course before.
View the course content: After saving, you will see the new page added with the selected Insendi course content displayed in an iframe (a kind of window within Canvas).
Access to the paired courses from the deep-linking modal
The functionality to pair courses or link content is designed to complement each other's course content and provide a more integrated learning experience.
From the 'Modules' section, you will be able to see the courses that are already paired and the ones that are available to be linked. To do so, you only need to click on the three-dot menu that is on the upper right next to the 'Module' button. After pressing this menu, a modal will open to allow you to link content or pair courses from your environment.
And after selecting the course or courses you want to pair and clicking on the ‘Pair courses' button, a new modal will open to inform you that this action cannot be undone.
Please note that only a user with Admin permissions will be able to see the complete list of courses. If you do not have those rights, you will only be able to view those courses that you have already been assigned.
If needed, this can also be checked and managed from the course settings. For further details, check the Insendi > Pair courses section in the 'Settings' article under Insendi.
