Tenant settings
This article explains the 'Insendi > Tenant Settings' tab. This tab has been integrated into the Admin section of Canvas to enable direct access to Insendi (if you have configured the Insendi app at the account level). It contains four pages:
- 1 All courses
- 2 Tenant Settings
- 2.1 Settings
- 2.2 Add-ons
- 2.3 LTI Provider
- 3 User Management
- 4 Reporting
- 4.1 Basic
- 4.2 Advanced Premium
All courses
This page displays all content created in Insendi, beginning with a list of all courses and their associated settings, as these represent the highest-level elements in the platform's structure. Within each course, you can access the corresponding modules, their settings, and pages. For a more detailed explanation of Insendi content, please refer to the Creating content in Insendi article.
Tenant Settings
This page contains three tabs:
Settings
Here, you can select the favicon, the plugin logo, and the login background image. Please remember to hit the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the tab after you have made any changes. You can also upgrade users to Tenant Admin by clicking on the '+ Add Tenant Admin' button.
The third section of this tab is the 'Custom CSS', which allows you to customize the appearance of the Insendi environment, changing colors and fonts to adapt them to your institution's visual identity. You can add standard CSS or change the theme through CSS variables, which affect the overall design of the platform:
--primary: sets the primary theme color (e.g., buttons, highlighted links).
--secondary: sets the secondary color, usually for softer elements like backgrounds or borders.
--family-primary: defines the main font used across the platform.
--family-secondary: sets a secondary font, used for titles, menus, or accent elements.
You can update these values to apply your institution’s design. For example, if your brand uses dark blue #003366, you can replace the --primary value with that color code.
If no custom code is added in the ‘Custom CSS' section, the environment will adopt the appearance defined in the Canvas 'Themes’ tab. To learn more about how this tab works, please search for it in our Canvas links article.
In this video, we have replaced the actual Tenant Admins account names with 'Tenant Admin 1', 'Tenant Admin 2', etc., to comply with data privacy regulations. However, the real account names will be visible in the plugin.
Add-ons
This tab contains multiple options, which we break down below.
Link INSENDI to other applications: Link external providers using API codes.
Default Video Service: Set your default video service provider for video uploads.
Vimeo Token: Set a Vimeo Token to link to your own Vimeo account. If left empty, the platform will default to the shared Insendi account.
Vimeo Download: When enabled, users can download Vimeo videos from the Rich Text Editor (RTE) component or activities (e.g., the 'Video Submission' activity). If disabled, the download option and 'Download Video' button will not be visible.
Vimeo Folder ID: Set a Vimeo Folder ID (or project_id) to automatically send all video uploads to that specific folder.
Dacast Token: Some clients prefer Dacast as the video provider. Here, you can set a Dacast Token to use your own account. Note that Dacast does not support downloading videos, unlike Vimeo.
Accept Shared Courses: Enabling this option will allow your instance to accept shared courses from other tenants.
Once you make or enter any changes, the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page becomes active. Please, don’t forget to click it to save the changes.
LTI Provider
This tab offers a clear, card-based overview of all existing LTI connections, making it easy for Tenant Admins to manage and review them at a glance. To edit an existing connection, click on its corresponding card. Once you've made your changes, scroll to the bottom of the form and click 'Update' to save them.
To add a new connection, click the '+ New connection' button. This will open a structured form divided into several sections to help configure the connection step by step.
The form includes:
Basic Details
Tool Provider Details
LMS Details
For guidance, hover over the question mark icons next to each field to see helpful tooltips. After filling out the form, remember to scroll to the bottom and click 'Create' to save your changes.
LTI connections also support custom variable substitutions, which allow dynamic insertion of platform-specific data. Currently supported substitutions include:
$User.id: Maps to identity.ref, providing a unique user ID.
$User.username: Maps to identity.provider_account, used for account verification or personalization.
Other substitutions from the LIS vocabulary can be added upon request through a support ticket.
The '+ Dynamic Registration' button gives access to a URL to integrate Insendi in Canvas in an automated way.
User Management
This tab provides a directory of all existing users. You can view and edit user details individually or in bulk, see the courses they are enrolled in, delete accounts, and access a comprehensive report of all users. To learn more about this section, please consult User management
We strongly recommend creating users in Canvas, since accounts created here will still need to be added in Canvas to access the resources—you can also create accounts directly on this platform if necessary. Additionally, even if users are enrolled in courses from here, they must also be enrolled through Canvas to ensure full access to course content.
Reporting
On this page, you can access reports on resource usage. The types of reports available depend on your institution's subscription plan.
Basic
In this section, you can review key usage metrics within the selected date range:
Seats Used: Displays the number of seats currently in use according to the institution’s contract limits. Historical usage is available based on the selected time range.
Storage Used: Shows the total amount of storage consumed across media, files, and other content. This reflects current usage only.
Contract Details: Summarizes the institution’s contract, including limits and current usage. Historical usage is available based on the selected time range.
Data can be downloaded as a CSV file, where applicable.
Advanced Premium
This option adds reports on four key indicators for the selected date range:
Activity in Platform: Bar chart illustrating a comparison between active courses and active users.
Unique users: Total number of unique users that have logged in.
User Engagement: Chart illustrating the total page views per user.
New Courses: Bar chart illustrating the number of courses created.
All this data can be downloaded in CSV format.
