Interactive table
What is it?
The Interactive table allows you to set students a mixture of free text entries, dropdown options, and checkbox fields for them to submit their answers within a table.
What is it useful for?
The Interactive table works well to get students to practice their understanding of concepts in an organized way. It allows you to create several different interactive table variations, many of which used to be provided by the use of bespoke development. Options now include:
Fixed headers: This allows you to lock the header row for each column.
Fixed first row: This allows you to lock the first row for a classic X, Y series table.
Open free text cells: This allows students free text entry to a cell. Please note that you have two options if you pick the ’free text’ selection when editing the activity. You can type an answer if you want the student to add exactly what is written there. Or in case your intention is that the student types whatever they want, you only need to leave a blank space and click on ‘Confirm'. Then, at the time of the correction, the instructor can click on the student’s response to mark it as red (wrong) or green (right).
Static cells: This allows you to add static text to any cell in the table.
Multi-select cells: This allows you to add a drop-down select option to any cell.
Checkbox: This allows students to tick the cell if they think it is correct or somehow has to do with the statement from the left column.
Column or row: This option allows you to add or delete a column or a row if you need it.
*Note: The static and free text options have a max of 10 words to ensure responsiveness works on mobile.

How it looks on the Platform:
It can be found in the 'Add activity' section after you enter 'Edit' mode:
After adding the new Activity, you can start to set it up:
Student view
Here is a sample view from the Student view:
Instructor view
Here is a sample view from the view of a Instructor/Teacher marking the Activity:
To mark the Activity the teacher needs to first click on the student's name and then on the answer box. One click marks the box green, a second click will mark it red and a third click will remove the mark.
On 'multiple choice' the answers are marked automatically and on 'free text' the answer is marked with orange (to be reviewed). 'Free text' answers need to be reviewed by the teacher to avoid wrong marks in case of typos.
